TIMEBEING

TIMEBEING MANIFESTO:

From the very first ritual at the very first fire that burneD

humans have built technology that raises the material to the level of the spiritual

rhythmic notes and wild dances spinning us into flight

with the destination of altered states

waves of vibration that connect us to the core

of the very depths of what makes us human

stringing together sparkling timelines like the strands of a spiderweb

we are an underground collective of storytellers, creators and dreamers

who know there is more than what we see

we have been here before and we will be here again

we are building the ritual technology that transcends time and space

in movement sound and vision

we are an explosion of stars scattered across the skies of past present and future

feeling the pull of the magnetism that connects us together

while knowing the gravity that holds us in place is all an illusion

create your own mythology

This 8-track album is about how ancient civilization, present humans, and our future selves are one and the same. And how this knowledge acts as a catalyst to new mental-spiritual territory. The music is deeper than in his prior albums and tells a complete story, from beginning to end. It's a journey that will take the listener on a psychedelic, paleo-futuristic ride. Sonically it resides in a non-place, a metal jungle, a Balkanic spaceship, a watery core. Besides 3 female vocalists featured on the album, all other sounds are direct from Uji’s imagination. Nyaruach from Sudan sings in Quemaquema and acts as a taunt female counterpoint to Uji’s deep tribal voice. Zola Dubnikova harmonizes with Uji as if she were a long distant lover from a past life. Kristine Barrett belts out Icelandic and Balkanic inspired vocals, the great mother landing on the mothership. Uji sings in a majority of the tracks, using his non-verbal made-up language to inspire imaginary tribes and direct vibrational communication.

FILM

An 8 part visual album directed by Jazmin Calcarami, as part of the multi-platform work TIMEBEING created by UJI

Three characters, bound together across time, unlock their common fate through the technology of ritual. The story, a time-shifting tapestry of 3 interlinking narratives, serves as a companion to the 8 tracks that comprise TIMEBEING, Uji’s new conceptual album. We start with a young man undergoing a self-inflicted rite of passage, continuing with a woman’s journey into her own reflected reality, to a futuristic alchemical celebration that breaks Uji’s perception of reality. As the parallel stories unfold, the veil lifts between their interwoven fate, revealing their connection and ultimately allowing them to evolve, merge and illuminate.

The film stars Kanako Hongo as Asuka, Gerardo Melo as Gen, Mariela Puyol as Niax, and Uji as himself.
